Bob Dylan and Authenticity

Last week, I attended the talk about Bob Dylan and his music. One of the things the presenter pointed out about some of Bob Dylan's songs is that they are identical copies of songs by older blues musicians. Sometimes the only difference between the songs would be in the lyrics. Does the fact that some of Bob Dylan's songs are copies make him any less authentic as an artist? Can a song that utilizes a part of another song be considered authentic?
